Signifigence of Granny Scene

What was the intentions behind the scene where Annie (Cate Blanchet) is doing laundry and her Granny (Rosemary Harris) comes out of the woods and brings her prisimns and mentions there is a storm coming. I have a few thoughts, but I thought I would open this up for discussion.

I figured it was a warning and to listen to her instincts with what was coming ahead.

Annie's Grannie was a ghost and she went to Annie to warn her of the coming trouble.

It also foreshadows the ending. We know now she can not only read the future and past but can see ghosts.
