Tour de force performance from Giovanni Ribisi...

This movie is so good for so many reasons, including the excellent performance by Cate Blanchett. However, the performance by Giovanni Ribisi is positively otherworldly. He absolutely inhabits that character and transforms this film from good to stunning. It would have been so easy to overplay his role, but he avoids that, showing great restraint at so many moments. I've seen the film 8 or 10 times and if you watch it purposefully - to study his acting - you will find him often staring motionless, yet communicating volumes with his eyes and slight, subtle body language. His accent is flawless, something Blanchett also nailed perfectly. There isn't a false moment in any of his performance. I could watch it over and over and never get enough.

So amazing in this film. He seems like an actor always on edge but harnesses all of that energy into a great performance.

Eh, to me it just kind of feels like he's riffing on his character from that one episode of The X-Files. Not a terribly diverse actor in my opinion.

Another brilliant truly disturbing and overwhelming performance from Ribisi. He rattles one to the bone.
