Did you ever find this film, or its companion film "Climbing Mt. Everest"? I'm interested in finding it too. Does anyone know where to find it?

reply

This is currently being restored by the British Film Institute and is due for a very limited re-release on 18th October 2013 with a DVD release very shortly afterwards, so hopefully you'll finally get to see it.

It's being show at the London Film Festival before having a limited cinema release & will be on Blu-ray next year.

Does anyone know where it could be ordered on DVD/Blu-ray or viewed on streaming video?

reply

It's available to stream from the BFI website the same day as the LFF gala (18th October).

You can stream it on the Curzon website but it will cost you ten pounds for the privilege. The DVD/Blu-Ray is released on 20/1 2014 and is available to order on Amazon UK.

Many thanks. I'll check those sources. I recently read "Into The Silence: The Great War, Mallory and the Conquest of Everest". Now I'm looking forward to watching the film from that 1924 expedition.

I agree! If you're lucky to live near enough to a place showing it, go see it on the big screen! Astonishing!
