the ending was not realistic

I found that the ending of this movie was rather far-fetched as Lucy (Heche) comes back to John (Goldblum) in the final scene. For me this was more unbelievable than a Star Wars movie, this was because Lucy's reaction to John confessing that he was an impostor was disappointment in the extreme. What Im trying to say is that in real life if someone misleads you like that and that reaction of Lucys in addition, there is no way the girl would ever consider returning. Instead in this movie, the audience is magically expected to believe she would forgive him, and we are not given any explanation as to her reasoning. Other than the climax of the film, it was in my opinion a very good movie that is why I found the end as such a letdown.

I disagree. At first she was very upset and shocked and took off. But after she had time to settle, she realized she loved him and decided to go back to him. What he did (posed as Auggie) wasn't really a bad thing. After all, she didn't mind that Auggie was in jail, so she could forgive for what John did.

When you say the beginning, middle and ending were not realistic, one can only assume you are speaking from your point of view - that all of his actions were not something you would do. An extremely subjective thinking. No one knows what another person, due to what their history is, will do in any given situation. Jeff Goldblum's character was profoundly affected by what happened, and Jeff Goldblum's acting made the progression of his movements extremely realistic. He lived a tedious, same-day after same-day life, and his boredom level of enormous. He entered the changing slowly, just out of curiousity, but it became interesting to him to continue. There was nothing unrealistic to the character in the progression of this finely acted movie.

You are right, he must be speaking from his point of view, and I totally agree with him.
The character's reactions are (for me) very lame so I really don't care for anythi g that happens to him.
waste of time seeing this movie, I want my time back!

I know women that have forgiven much worse things.
The film is very realistic IMO.

As for the film in general, it is a captivating film that makes you laugh and feel sad with the characters at some points. Very light movie, but not in the bad way.

I also found it a bit hard to swallow that Lucy did return to him, which definitely took away from what was a relatively interesting movie. The movie was still worth seeing for Jeff Goldblum's performance alone.

I don't go to movies to see realistic stories, I want diversion from my hum-drum life. I would not have acted as Goldblum did but I sure would have wanted to catch Anne Heche and have her give me a bath, and wash my hair.

I'd like to think there are people like these in our world.

I agree.

But if you turn it around, I'd like to give HIM a bath. Lucky lady she was, really lucky lady...

Always an active duty Jr. American Gladiator!

I absolutely disagree; sorry mate! The movie world (and the real one I imagine) is FULL of women who get pissed off / emotional and who later change their minds. Out of the thousands of films I've seen, believe me, I have seen MANY, MANY more films with unrealistic endings.

Good example, and it won't be a spoiler, the recent film 'STATE OF PLAY' with Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe. Talk about a GREAT film (of course WAY more intrigue and suspense than this one) absolutely RUINED by the ending. Now THAT film had an unbelievably unrealistic and lousy ending, let me tell you. Most of the reviewers agree.

As far as this film, look at it this way. She REALLY loves this guy, okay? Then she finds out this totally unexpected and shocking thing that he really is not who she thought he was. In her shock and hurt, she leaves. She gets over the shock and realizes that this is a really great, nice, ultimately honest guy who she really loves. She comes back. To me anyway I truly don't see anything unrealistic about that...

ILOVEtrading films!I've got a HUGE..uh..collection!Please ask!

It wasn't exactly unbelievable, but it was a letdown, definitely.
As a matter of fact, the entire second half of the movie was a letdown.
A great chance missed, I thought.
