Candy

It was so obvious that Candy and Lonnie would continue to screw around with each other. I did not feel she really cared about Roy's feelings and only stayed the course with him to keep the two most important two people in her life around.

I know it's just a movie but she was not in love with him and he did nothing in the film that changed my mind. He was just be there, where was the magic moment where he did anything that made her change.

She was a real piece of work. She screws her best friend's husband. When asked by Darlene if she loves Roy, she says she never got the chance. (So it's no.). She's only interested in screwing her husband when she's ovulating. When it's revealed that she's pregnant and Lonnie is probably the father, she immediately and repeatedly apologizes to Darlene, asking for her forgiveness, but not her husband. She admits to screwing Lonnie at least twice. When her husband demands to talk to her about the affair while she's consoling Darlene, she gets mad at him. She fights to save her friendship with Darlene but not her marriage. She doesn't show any concern for Roy until she thinks he's cheating on her with a woman at the bar and then complains that he doesn't love her anymore. She never shows any sign of regret or apologizes to her husband, only accuses him of getting even with her. On the way home, she never apologized to Roy or asks his forgiveness but only says she really loves him.

Once home, he should have demanded a divorce or at least a paternity test for all the kids because she probably continued to cheat, if not with Lonnie then probably someone else.

Saw it again....You need to see the ending again. She came to realize she did love Roy and as it turned out he could reproduce. I wondered why Darlene never had any kids?

I have a better ending. Roy divorces Candy and Darlene divorces Lonnie. Candy remarries some loser ex-con who turns her into an addict and pimps her out. Lonnie develops liver disease from being an alcoholic and dies in some cheap motel while screwing a two dollar hooker. Roy and Darlene marry and live happily ever after.

So you're saying that after all she said and did throughout the movie; how she treated her husband. Suddenly at the end she had an epiphany? She would never fall back into her old ways? If that's what you believe, I have no problem with that. I just find it hard to believe and wouldn't trust her to stay faithful and demand a paternity test for each child. Saying I "really love you" just doesn't cut it for me and to forgive and forget just based on that is really a stretch. Remember at the end there was no explanation for the supposed inaccuracy of the test. Just her word that there was no problem.

With Candy I don't blame you for having such a mistrusting nature but the writers planted the seeds of she put the old Candy behind her and in the end they all put the affair behind them. So yes the first kid was from the lover and the rest were Roy and Candy's kids, The end.

The writers also planted the seed through the majority of the movie that she never really did love her husband. She just liked being a wife and wanted kids. Yes she felt regret for her affair, but not because she loved her husband but only because she wanted to salvage her friendship with Darlene. If she really loved her husband and regretted cheating on him then why screw Lonnie more than just once. It was an on going affair that probably would have continued hadn't they been caught. Remember the scene in the pool when she basically told Darlene that she didn't love Roy. (She said she never got a chance to.) I just can't buy that after all she said and did, she suddenly experiences an epiphany in the last few minutes of the movie. It seemed to me that the only thing she really cared about was friendships and to salvage that she felt she had to stay married to Roy. Roy loved her but it's difficult to believe that she had that same love for him. If the writers intent was to show that she did in fact love her husband then they did a terrible job showing it. Either that or it was edited out.
