...feels the need to tack on some totally unnecessary little preachy monologue at the end of her films, instead of just letting the films' natural endings speak for themselves. It's damn annoying, if you ask me.

How would you have ended it?
The monologue was an easy and cheap way to indicate that Leila survived. I would have preferred an extra scene of her leaving hospital but that would take more money.
The current ending is not satisfactory but maybe I need to read the book. I want to know if she left her husband and the town, if the police got involved in prosecuting her for theft or the men for what they did...
