Well I could but I am fairly happy,why? because I just picked up the dvd of this for £2 in a second hand shop.

I really liked this version of the story and have never been able to buy the dvd before.

I am British not Australian but I don't understand why people are so negative about this version,I don't think it is a remake,more a reimagination of the basic story,are people negative because of the cast? or what,it can't be the Australian setting which is as the orignal.

It is nor perfect but it is pretty good.

A couple of plot questions,I think that society would break down pretty fast if people knew/believed that they were all going to die,it seems that in the film the government tells people it is all ending so I would expect things to go crazy.

Secondly I wonder why the Anerican capt had to ensure that all his crew would go on the mission since nobody else would be qualified to operate the sub anyway?

Truth is, we have no idea how people will react in this situation. I think widespread looting/crime/rioting/violence would occur if people had a chance to survive, but these people knew they were all dead.

Hopefully we'll never get a chance to run that experiment!
