Movie Adaptation?

When are they gonna make a movie adaptation out of this game? It's so good. It's a lot better than a lot of the games out there right now that are being made into movies.

Funny, i was just thinking Zooey Deschanel might look good and right as April Ryan. But after thinking about it little longer i realized that her voice is very different from Sarah Hamilton's. Then again i'm not sure Sarah's voice really fit into what April Ryan looks like on the cutscenes. Too bad we never hear April say anything in the cutscenes becouse it sort of makes it feel like the April in the cutscenes and the more talkative one outside the cutscenes are two different characters.

Anyone else think Zooey should play April Ryan if they made a movie?

I have expressed my thoughts about this question on another board by reflecting on a previous post there.

I don't see anthing new about this topic in his blog. Which blog entries did you find?

Searching his site, I found these:

On April 01, 2005, he wrote:

Secondly - and this is a biggie - Dreamfall is headed to the silver screen! German auteur Uwe Boll, the mastermind behind such classics as House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark, will write and direct the adaptation, which (for budgetary reasons) will be set in modern-day Berlin, and shot in Romania. It's still early, and the script is being written as we speak, but Dr. Boll is courting Michelle Rodriguez for the role of Zoƫ Castillo, while April Ryan might be played by none other than Milla Jovovich! The second I know more, I'll post it here, so keep checking back.

Which was an April fool's joke. The next is its clarification:

April 02, 2005:
Fortunately (or unfortunately?), yesterday's post was a Big Fat Lie. (...) I cringe at the thought of Dr. Boll getting his disturbingly incompetent hands on our universe. A Dreamfall movie might happen at some point - there is interest - but not now, and not from the man who put the final nail in the coffin of Christian Slater's 'career'.

Fast forward to 2006, where he addresses the matter more maturely (which means, without spreading illusions):

October 5, 2006:
I would love to see The Longest Journey or Dreamfall turned into a movie, although that's unlikely to happen. Neither game is particularly well suited to the format without extensive changes to the storylines, and they'd be very long - and very, very expensive - movies. Both games would work a lot better as novels or comic-books, and I'd be very happy to see that happen at some point. Not, mind you, because I need the validation, but because I take pride in what we've created, and I'd love for it to take on another life in a new medium.

The next time, in 2007, he answers a reader question in a Q&A blog post:

November 26th, 2007:
Reader question:
Would you ever consider any type of film adaptation of Longest Journey/Dreamfall? Obviously it would be very, very difficult to be true to the games, but somewhere deep down wouldn't you like to see your creations on the big screen?

Answer:
The thought is intriguing, of course, and we have been in discussions with various people over the years, but I don't think either game lends itself particularly well to a film adaptation. The story would certainly have to be reinterpreted in a major way, trimmed down, and the scale of the production would still be massive. An HBO (or similar) series might be more suitable, but cost would again be a huge issue - unless, of course, it was animated. Which, to my mind, would be preferable.

So: yes, it'd be fun to see; but no, I don't see it happening, at least not until we've released Dreamfall Chapters.
