Only for Windows 95?

Does anyone else think that they should come out with an updated version of Escape to Horrorland for Windows XP? Because I would totally snatch it up in a second!

You can change it to be compatible. Just right-click on the desktop icon of the game once it's installed and on Properties, then click the Compatibility tab and make sure the box "Run this program in compability mode for..." is checked, and choose Windows 95 from the drop-down. If you're having trouble installing it at all, do the same thing, only right click on the Setup or install file directly on the disk instead of the desktop icon.

Hey, when i run this game on my XP, in the movie scenes like all these lines go over the screen and make the movies really unclear. i mean its really bad! but on my grandparents old computer its fine. I tried setting on my windows xp for windows 95 games but it makes no difference. This ever happened to anyone else?? Maybe its just my computer ay

It's probably unavoidable - it sounds ridiculous, but games there were out before a certain year are almost so old that XP just doesn't understand what it's reading anymore. Because so few people play them, they decided that it wasn't worth the bother to include all the extra coding required to run these old-school games. I couldn't get my flashback to work either. You'd probably just be better off installing and playing it on an older computer.

Same thing happens to me, the video is all scrambled but the audio is fine.

I really really want to play this game and dive back into my childhood.

Someone figure this out please, I tried everything

To get rid of lines, alt-tab it, then click back to it.

I don't know if lordstewie's advise works (can't be bothered to try, but thanks for the tip, anyway!), but here's what I did to get it working properly without the annoying "lines" (easier in the long run than alt-tabbing):

1. After installing the game normally, copy the file gboption.exe from CD1:/setup to the folder you installed the game to (normally C:\Program files\Dreamworks Interactive\Horroland).
2. Run the gboption.exe that you just pasted into the directory. Uncheck Use DirectDraw and click OK to close the window.
3. If you want full screen view (optional), right-click gb.exe, click the compatibility tab, and make it run with a resolution of 640x480, then click OK.
4. Run the game with proper graphics!

There was no need to change the other compatibility settings on my computer, but if you still have problems, try changing it to Windows 95, 98, or 2000.

Have fun! Great game!

Since I can't edit my previous post, I just want to say that enroid has already posted a thread ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0219062/board/thread/97838745 ) thread on the boards linking to his YouTube video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGMI6DnfCx8 ) showing the exact same procedure as I explained earlier (except copying gboption.exe apparently is unnecessary). It shows it in a very easy way with voice-over and direct feed from his computer screen, even if it already is easy, so thanks to him.

Also, he mentions that the game, by default, works flawlessly in Windows Vista.

(By the way, just as a precautionary defense, I did not steal his work earlier as I hadn't seen his video.)
