Fish Heads works because it hearkens back to our trippy childhood

why does this video and song work?

First, the song is very much like songs for children. Very simple. Like a song for children.

And then the video has this sort of trippy sense of childlike wonder. For example, the masks that have eyes that move up and down in the video. Those sorts of things entrance and fascinate little children. Young children are almost like they are on LSD. If you were on LSD you would find those masks fascinating.

This whole video is almost like going back to childhood days when everything new you saw was a surreal, trippy, awesome adventure.
