What do you think happens after the movie (Beyond the ending)

After they have coffee. Does she get on a later flight? Is Campbell satisfied with with the meeting and gets closure? Do they spend more time together? What do you think?

Hmm, I'm assuming that they eventually got married and had the kids they were meant to have (assuming that she was still young enough). They made it seem like they were having a good time at the table at the end. So they wouldn't just go their separate ways...that's stupid!

The "cup of coffee" was a way to have her stay a while and give Jack a chance to explain his revelation to her. The next day she took her flight to Paris and stayed three days to sort out things then returned to New York, and had the shipment of all her personal belongings put on hold for 90 days. During that time she and Jack spent planned quality time together and with the help of a therapist sorted out their real feelings over the 13 years apart.

Jack explained his "glimpse" to her in small pieces, over several weeks, and gave enough details of things and people that she came to the point where she believed it was real and not just a dream of Jack's. They re-affirmed their love for each other and decided that they really wanted to build a life together.

They found a new place together, in New Jersey, so that they could be close to family and friends. Her items that had been in storage were moved there, along with Jack's things from his NY home. He didn't go to work for Big Ed but instead took a job with a New York brokerage firm with an office in New Jersey. She began to phase down her law practice and started to to 'pro bono' work.

They obviously missed 13 years of being together and that could not be recovered. During the next year they began to investigate adoption. They found a family of orphans, two sons and a daughter, to adopt. In addition to the same baby and the cute daughter that were in his "glimpse" was an older brother, now 10. For Jack it was almost like a continuation of his glimpse. The daughter gave him a long hug and said, "I knew you would come back."

About the 13 years that could not be recovered.

That's true, but that's a regretful way to look at it. The way the story is played out, they were NOT meant to be together those 13 years. The absence of those 13 years is to be used as the fuel to build their relationship. They were an ordinary young couple at the beginning of the movie. This was a necessary beginning, but at the time, was apparently nothing extraordinary, otherwise Jack never would have gone to Europe.

Then, when he has the glimpse, he has the past 13 years to compare this wonderful(albeit not entirely real.....YET) relationship with Kate to. He chooses the spark of their relationship. BECAUSE he's lived the life he has for the past 13 years, he's ready to embark on this journey with her. Now that he REALIZES what the past 13 years could have been, if he uses the glimpse as the motivation it is meant to be, he can make the spark REAL. With all of that, they will use the "LOST" 13 years as motivation to make the new time they have now created for themselves, the BEST IT CAN POSSIBLY BE!!!!

So no, the 13 year blank space of the movie can't be recovered, but time from this moment forward can be all the more special!!!!

I have to disagree, I think he made a choice that delayed his destiny when he took the plane to London. The spark with Kate was always there. She had to be in the back of his mind even though they both lived seperate lives and shared other love relationships for those "lost" years but in the end true love never fails.
I love this movie.

(I realize I'm quoting a post almost a year old, but I'm going to respond anyway).

Exactly. For some relationships that spark never dies, and running into an old flame many years later can rekindle it just like it was yesterday. That's why Kate agreed to stay for coffee, and that's what Jack experiences in the glimpse when Kate tries to get in some action while the kids are asleep and Jack stops and tells her she's even more beautiful now than she was when they were younger.

Paul Simon put it really well in his great song "Still Crazy After All These Years:"

I met my old lover
On the street last night
She seemed so glad to see me
I just smiled
And we talked about
some old times
And we drank ourselves some beers
Still crazy after all these years
Still crazy after all these years

As long as there are no deep bad feelings lingering between you, that is what it's like to run into an old flame years later.

This is awesome.
I'd watch this sequel.

would he have lost his job in the big company? What would've happened after all that crap he pulled at christmas: leaving the deal hanging in mid air and walking out on it.

I think they talk for hours, she gets on a later flight and goes to Paris.

He goes back to the Lassiter firm and 'brings home' the deal which was hanging over Christmas. (The fact he 'bailed out' on a big deal might have knocked him off the 'fast track' at the firm anyway, so they might not mind to see him go.)

They both realize they want to take a shot at a life together so they both 'cash out' of their current jobs and go for a 'moderately downsized' life like TxMike speculated they might back in 2008.

Jack works at a Jersey-headquartered 'lower level' brokerage firm; Kate moves to (or starts her own) a charitable-organization law firm (not totally pro bono but not a high-power NYC firm).

They keep their eyes open and within a year or so their 'dream house' goes on the market in Jersey, and they snap it up. They meet some (not all) of the neighbor friends they had in the 'glimpse.'

They have a couple of kids who are LIKE (but not identical) to the kids in the 'glimpse.' A son, Andy, and a daughter, Jessie.

13 years later, the front doorbell ring three times, and it's Cash. He shakes Jack's hand, says, "just wanted to check in," and drives off in the Ferarri.

I like this version, too.

Good question. They wouldn't have gotten the simple house like he dreamt about. They were both really into money.

I think the ending was meant to be open, so the viewer could wonder.
