Jack doesn't go to Aspen

I love this movie, one of my top faves. However, what is Peter Lassister going to think when he finds out Jack didn't go to Aspen to meet with Bob Thomas and save the MULTI-Billion dollar deal, but instead had coffee with his ex-girlfriend? That just doesn't compute… i.e.: Jack gets Kate back, but loses one of the biggest corporate mergers in history (and probably gets fired)...
