Age difference?

So when Dave first started writing Katie he was 18 and she was 9. Now he is 28 and she is only 19. Doesn't anyone else think the age difference in this film should have been a little less?

I thought the same thing. Or at least make it so the present day in the film has them at 23 and 32.

"Oh, my God. Bear is driving! How can that be?!"

Why? I live by a University and I know many people in their late-20s that date teen-aged college chicks... many prefer younger chicks; they don't come with the baggage of women our age..

Actually the line from the movie was Katie was a "hyper-developed 11 year old". So, she's now 21 to his 28.

Despite the age difference, Dave made out good, was surprised he and Sarah were still good friends.
