Do the people who rated this a 10 know that they are cinematic idiots, or are they completely oblivious to that fact?
Actually, I feel sorry for them. Because if they think this is a 10, then they obviously have never seen an actual 10. Sad. Just sad.

Couple things: First, "enjoying a movie" and "rating a movie a 10" are completely different animals. I've reviewed something like 70 movies and have only given a few 10s: Pulp Fiction, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and maybe one other. 10s should be rare, indeed. I know a lot of people rate movies 1 or 10, based on whether they think the rating of the movie is too high or too low. That's ridiculous.
If someone can watch a movie and then come on here to rave about it, it's equally conceivable and justifiable that someone will come on to speak out about how terrible a movie is. I like computer movies generally and really liked this one. I don't think it's Wargames, but it's pretty good. Probably a 7.5 or so. I came here to see what people had to say. These are all excellent motives for using IMDB. If the original poster came here to bait people into conversation and then try to put them down through offensive terms, etc., that's a bad motive.
If everyone who didn't like something just shut up about it, there would be no critical dialogue about a subject and we'd all be less-informed. I welcome reasonable posters who dislike movies. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that people disliked certain movies, but I wouldn't tell them to get lost just because they dislike it.

I initially gave this movie a "5". After that I went to have a look at this board and I read these pathetic ramblings of the idiot above - then I immediately returned to the main page and changed my vote to "10".
I'm sure the original poster is truely dismayed by your actions and has seen the error of his ways. It's just too bad IMDB doesn't have more users like you. If you like, we could prepare a list of really bad movies that are in dire need of 10 votes.
I was almost certain your vote would make the movie good, so I went out and rented it again, but gee whiz was I wrong! The important thing is you tried.. Well, that and you've publicly admitted to being an idiot.

You know how, as a child, maybe you went to a theme park and only remember it as being the greatest place on earth. You then go back 10 years later and find out how crappy and contrite it actually is. Those aren't real cartoon characters, they're stupid underpaid actors. You see through the fantasy, and begin to take everything too literally.
This is the case with me and this movie.
When I watched it, for whatever reason, it seemed to embed itself in my brain as being as fantastic movie. It just appealed to me so much, that I couldn't help but love it. Funny thing is though that I don't know why.
I'm sure if I were to go back and rewatch it in a few years, I'd bang my head against a wall wondering how I could ever have possibly enjoyed it, but until that day, I'm content with the fact I really enjoyed this movie.

Just as ridiculous as giving this movie a 10 is giving it a 1. What are you thinking of as the scale when you grade a movie? I've seen a lot of terrible movies, notably Anklebiters, Dead Above Ground, and 13 Seconds. Those movies are far more deserving of a 1/10 than this film. It's _at least_ a typical quality movie for Hollywood, meaning it should deserve at least a 5 or 6. You care to elaborate?

I must say I enjoyed this movie. Still, I don't think it deserves a 10. 10 is in my opinion for the excellent movies that should be remembered for long.
This movie is not excellent, nor does it have the ambition to be.
But there are people who would give the movies they really like a 10. Surely they would give many more 10s than I do. Why not ?

I have an opinion to share.....i have watched so many movie and seen so many discussion boards....there in one thing that troubles me......why should there be an issue about what people rate the movie......
I would recommend everybody to have this point of view.....every person is different....they have their own sensibility......i remember when i was a kid and my teachers would hold tests in class.....there were strict teachers and there were ones who were not......the strict ones would not give anyone 10/10 so easily so many would get scores like 6/10 or 7/10....she thought not everyone deserves 10.......while there were other teachers who would just give away 10/10 to many many students......coz she had a opinion that everyone deserved 10/10.........it all depends on your strictness......those who love movies and watch it seriously have a strict rating system (me too) while others have their opinions which one should respect.......so there should not be any fuss about who gave what rating and why.......

shareI watch plenty of movies my self and though it doesnt hold the same cinematic effects a a great movie like "man on fire", its good fun and you dont just rate a movie on the cinematic qualities but also the enjoyment to it. thats why its voting system so we get an idea on what other people think from different perspectives.
