I´d like to know if the dog that played Eddie McDowd was also on other movies / TV shows?

Yes he was on a UK episode of Dogs in USA Hollywood. A source on there claimed he was still alive and working yet I dont know of anything else he was in.
He was in a shelter for a very long time though.
