Better than Blair

Ok so yes I liked this movie. It freaked me out for than two days and every time i have seen it since I've been freaked out, though upon seeing it for a fourth time I laughed at it, well more like I laughed at my room mates who picked it up and thought it was going to be funny. I can see how people would hate this movie. It's like Blair Witch and well Blair Witch was a good consept but was executed medeocerly. The camera was too shakey for a group of film students and there were alot of scenes filmed that were just black screens. You saw nothing. in St. Francisville you see stuff, stuff that can be faked but still some of the tricks used in this film were scarier than all the cgi effects in oh say Resident Evil(A not scary movie).
Like I said I've seen this movie many times, it's deffenately worth a second viewing, not right away maybe after a month or two. Also watch it with new people. It is hilarious to see how scared people can be at this movie. I rented it and left it in the vcr at my appartment and two of my room mates watched it because I said it was scarey and well they thought they could handle it. When I came home all the lights were on and they were huddled on the couch staring at the tv in horror. Then they threw stuff at me. So show this movie to people it's worth it.

Much like the Blair Witch Project, it requires a certain amount of imagination, which most people apparently don't possess.

I completely disagree. To say that this movie was widely hated can be attributed to a lack of imagination is to credit the imaginations of that hacks that made this film. I went in wanting to be scared, and I'm sorry but nothing could save this film for me. Troy Taylor (The Ghost expert that explains the equipment) is from my town. He is an honest to God expert on the subject. Knowing that he was a part of the film gave me a little hope, and made me a little more willing to believe. That willing suspension of disbelief, however, was completely destroyed when they actors decided to kick in the lid of the wooden box where they found the old medical bag. This house was well maintained and recently occupied, however, these kids decided to completely destroy this wooden box that somehow no one had ever noticed. I'm sure the caretaker was thrilled. You'd think, with a little of that imagination we keep hearing about, the filmmakers would have been able to avoid a few of these screw-ups. Blarg.

I agree... Blair Witch was fake from the start, to me, since I'd already heard so much about it. But this movie...I'd never heard of it before, and I honestly didn't know if the movie was for real or not until the ending. I was thoroughly freaked out, even after I found out it wasn't real. I enjoyed it though. I thought it was well done, the annoying crap Madison kept doing and saying, Ryan crying and whining, the jokes the guys were cracking, the cockroach in the sandwich...it all seemed so real! I'd recommend this to any horror movie fan!!

You could tell it was fake once the so-called "participants" entered the house. I at first thought it was going to be an interesting look at a real story of New Orleans. I was so soon disappointed. How could anyone watch Blair or this movie and think either was real? I thought Blair was done better b/c it was more realistic for some college students scared out of their minds to have shaky camera work. Especially if they are running around in the woods.

Having said that this movie was a fun piece of mind fluff that provided momentary entertainment. I think it could've have been so much better had they not tried to go the "documentary" route and if they had fleshed out some things in the script. For instance. when they are on the Ouja board and "Charles" says he knew Madison. How? When? It might have been interesting if looking through something they find and old photograph of someone who looked exactly like Madison. Or if Madison "turned" into the crazy madam who experimented on the slaves.

i too get freaked out watching this movie.... especially when the three mirrors come up and the hand!!! ahhh! that gets me every darn time!

reply

I agree, way better and scarier than BWP.

LOL! Bullcrap. You people should see a Japanese film called "Noroi: The Curse". It's filmed like a documentary and is way scarier than Blair Witch so that makes it 100 times scarier than this piece of crap. Some of you would pee in your pants if you thought this was scary. LOL!!!!

Yeah, honestly, I'm home from work sick and watched "St. Francisville Experiment" this afternoon and it is not scary. The characters are obnoxious and if I have to hear 'White Light' again, I am going to puke (In fact, I've been puking all day). I'll admit the movie was somewhat entertaining, but not what I was expecting.

This flick is on right now and it is HORRIBLE. I'm responding to everyone that is defending this garbage.

Even mockumentaries need decent acting and production values, and at least a decent script.

Listening to annoying, obnoxious typecast bubble headed girls saying "oh my god, oh my god" (which is their dialogue throughout the ENTIRE movie) got old fast.

At least Blair Witch had logical and scary plot development.

Sorry, this movie fails on so many "film school 101" levels, that not even my imagination can save it.
