I was really scared -- im not kidding

Definitely scared, try watching it in a seedy movie theatre. Dammit!
It also had stories regarding this bad woman who kept her slaves in the attic,
what a B@$$@$%^& and how come the slaves ghosts didnt get her?@?@
confusing..the cockroach thing on the sandwhich was the only thing
that was corny. (it wasnt there then it appeared out of nowhere)

Hey gellybelly , you might want to read the other post about the truth of the movie . It was made up . That lady never existed. Thats what I read .

The womans actual name was Delphine LaLaurie. She was real, the movie, I am not so sure, but I did some research and she was an actual person. Even if the movie was fake, I was scared too!

Fake or not, this is one freaky movie!

reply

Farcoat, I was scared too the first time I watched this.

Yes, the film is a total Blair Witch rip off, yes it sucks how they tried to pass it off as 'real' and then completely destroyed all the hard work with the crappy CGI ghost at the end, and yes, they used stock and cliche situations to generate scares, instead of doing something original.

All of this is evident on the second viewing of the film.

BUT...the first time I saw it, I have to admit that I got totally sucked in by it, and I was really scared. Especially when Paul goes into the attic on his own near the end.

So as a film to rewatch and analyse and discuss plot or dialogue or characters or any of that it totally sucks...but as a one-off, leave-your-brain-at-the-door, chilling experience, if you're in the right mood, this film is pretty effective.

I watched this film when i was 9 years old! (Don't ask!!)
I was actually petrified for months afterwards and refused to go to bed on my own or even upstairs!!
It was traumatizing and it still gives me the creeps today! Haha...

Its a creepy movie, and could easily scare young teens and children. i think as you get older you realize that acting wasn't as good as it could be but its still one of the best blair witch copycats out there

I thought the part where you saw the reflection of the slave behind Madison in the mirror was one of the creepiest scenes I've ever seen in a horror film. You only caught a short glimpse of him for less than a second, but any longer would've ruined the effect. It was a perfect moment.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.
