Better Than The Blair Witch Project

This actually creeped me out in places, 'Blair Witch' just bored me.

I like both movies but I will tip my hat to this movie for delivering more creepy moments. The acting isn't as good as blair however

First of all, comparing Blair and Francis is ridiculous. St Francisville is HORRIBLE.

In Blair Witch I was rooting for them to find their way out of the woods. A few minutes into this film I realized I wouldn't connect to the story or the characters therefore I didn't care who lived or died.

In Blair Witch I was able to relate with the emotions they were going through. There were no believable shows of emotion in this film.

Blair Witch got a lot of negative reviews at the time. It seemed to me like the makers of St. Francisville tried to use those reviews as a sort of "recipe" to create a "better than Blair Witch" ghost hunter movie. I first heard about it on the Blair Witch message boards here on IMDB and I couldn't wait to see it. Studio editing mess or not, this movie should have never been released.

I'll admit to being pretty scared the first time I saw this film, but there is no way it's better than Blair Witch Project.

To be honest, I like the concept of this film more - haunted house instead of scary wood - but ultimately Blair Witch used it's location far more effectively. Like, although I did jump in all the right places in this film, on a second viewing you realise just how cheesy the actual 'scares' are, and how they're actually nothing to do with the situation itself...

*spoilers*

...a cat hiding in a wardrobe, a musical box, a doll.
This film was a complete wasted opportunity. It took an awesome concept and just squandered it for cheap scares. Whereas Blair Witch Project got the maximum fear out of the location itself, the isolation, the sense of being completely lost, the fear of the dark.

That's why Blair Witch Project is, IMO, a far superior film to this one.

I like this movie and all, but I think The Blair Witch Project is a lot better. To me, it is still the best found footage horror movie I've ever seen. Without The Blair Witch Project, this movie might not even exist.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.
