For those who are totally confused......

Which there seems to be MANY of you, I will attempt to clear some things up. Granted, I did not fully understand the movie the first time I watched it either, so I will not attempt to make you look an idiot...

Cassie was struggling to live, after being in the accident. She was in a sort of "parrallel universe." Her boyfriend was alive in one, and dead in the other. That is why if you listen to his dialogue you can pick up on this. He is telling her to fight, and what not. She is basically on her death bed. She can either fight to live, or give up and die. The whole Annie/Raven/rave world is the dead world. All those people have died in reality. For example, her boyfriend says something to the effect of, "If you stay here, you'll die!" By this he is saying if you stay in the state of unconsciousness, or a comatose state, you will eventually die, and he wantes her to keep fighting to live. Another example is when Cassie "kills" the man in the pool. She talks about killing him, which in reality she REALLY did, by the car accident. Another prime example is her professor stating, "There is no answer for this kind of test," or something to that effect....that is parallelin reality, which has to do with her being in the hospital after the accident, and all kinds of tests are being run on her.

This is just some of the parts I remember, that I think will sort of clarify some things about the plot that have A LOT of you confused. Hopefully this helped some of you!

SPOILERS

Just two questions, who was the girl at the start of the movie who had her wrists slashed for her blood, and what did it have to do with the rest of the film?
At the end, was it Cassie and her boyfreind in bed, when they were older?

reply

These are just guesses, but I think that the guys who died in the other car in the accident really were murderers, and thus its kind of a good thing that Cassie killed them. This does seem like kind of a coincidence, but since the murder happens before any of the really weird stuff I guess it "really" happened.

A further guess is that they might have spun out so that Cassie would have to stop and they could kill her like the did the other girl. But she was sloshed and not paying attention so she just plowed through them.

I'm pretty sure that you're right about the ending.

Look! yes thanks for your clarifications. But fact remains...this was done badly, a failed attempt, unable to meet its purpose for a so-called film, not even that...the director has absolutely no idea of what he's trying to do. I sure hope he's got another job other than directing, better yet...retire in the film industry altogether.
I am so disgusted watching the actors interview...how they're trying to make sense of what they done in this piece of crap...and they have no idea as well...what a larf! This should be put on the list when people would go "they still make s*it like this???"

God i knew i shouldnt rented this movie, i mean casey affleck as the main character...nothing against him, but he just doesnt have the face, the attitude, the acting and most important...the personality to be a leader, to carry the story, not like his brother ben. He just aint got it.

But all is not lost, thanks for Angela Featherstone's breast view, and eliZAbeth's wet t-shirt.(yet again, from bring it on)

Spartans, what is your profession!? HARROH!HARROH!HARROH!

I liked the movie and all i can say is thank god everybody has different opinions on things because the world would be a damn boring place if we all felt the same about everything.

@ twentythird:

I strongly urge...no, i plead with you...to watch "The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford" and then return to this thread and delete the part of your message that says Casey Affleck "aint got it".

Casey Affleck is amazing in that movie and proves himself to be twice the actor his brother is.

"What this country needs right now... is a Doctor."

reply

"The Assassination Of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" is an excellent film and should be required viewing by anyone who slags Casey Affleck. Then again, I don't think Ben's a bad actor either -- just not an attractive media figure.

reply

this movie may be bad, but casey is twice the actor ben is.
Ben always has that dumba$s sarcastic look on his face with that smirk that screams: "IM ACTING" casey is a very genuine actor, and if you think he cant carry a movie or contribute to a film then watch assasination of jessie james, gone baby gone, any of the oceans movies and the chemistry he has with every actor within, its substance not style and BEN is only the latter, reference paycheck, changing lanes, sum of all fears, and ohhh daredevil, yeah he can carry a movie....only my two cents don't freak out

reply

That is an excellent explanation, and it was pretty much my interpretation of the film as well. But you went me one better with your explanation of the rave/goth/fire/underground world being the choice of death.

One question, though: Was is all a dream? What do we make of Cassie waking up with her boyfriend at the end? Was this just an attempt of the filmmakers to give an "upbeat" ending?
