People dont seem to understand.

Our military and political leaders were trained geared and experienced at fighting a war like WW2.This was not Germany or even the Japanese. They were an Army of peasants educated and trained to follow orders to fight and Die. Ad one General in the field said... Its our Destructive capability vs Their Birthrates. In WW2 We captured land from the enemy and moved on not having to worry so much about what was behind us. This did not work. An NVA General stated that their biggest fear wsd Armies of paratroopers landing in the north.Divisions of Tanks rolling thru Hanoi.

They knew they would win.simply keep sending their troops and VC south...recruit in thr south and endure the Bombing...and wait for the U.S. to pull out then unleash their military against South Vietnam.. And so they did.
