That's the idea behind the show, Murphy's Law.
I certainly don't want the show to end, but would like to see Larry do things that a create positive domino effect. They could always have it unravel all the way down the line at the season's end, undoing all the things that build Larry's character. You are right about too many arguments wasting time and losing the punch of humor they gave us at first.
I would love to see Larry's character surprise Cheryl with a While You Were Out episode or Trading Spaces with Doug or Hilde ruining their neighbor's room.
The show moves so fast, filled with so much humor, the arguments are an easy filler, but make the character not funny so much as sad. We watch TV because we want to be entertained. It would be easier to laugh at Larry's character if circumstances brought about his ultimate failures, but it is hard to root for a character who curses at everyone for little things.
Larry David is a genius, but seems too modest to ever make himself the hero, unlike the roles he wrote for others in Seinfeld.
I'd love to see him Forest Gump his way into a few things that put him ridiculously high on top as the hero then despised through circumstances. Having him live a roller-coaster life, see him soar for a few months before the fall inertia pushes him back up the next incline.
So to respond to your post, four-twenty, although I have no idea what you mean by "non-lamen turms in the show", I'd bet my bottom dollar you're still watching, besides, you were forewarned in the title, to: "CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM"
