Okay so is the old lady Celia who wrote the story Silly? That would make sense. And the girl umm Claire did her boyfriend or whatever he was (the guy she had all those flashbacks to), did he die? Is that what happened when she got into the crash? I'm confused. Please help me. Hehe. Thanks.

Yes, the old lady Celia and Silly are the same person. The story recounted the experience she had as a girl. Rememeber the boat they were trying to escape on...look for it in the beginning of the movie and near the end...it's the same boat - I forget the name offhand.
Yes, he died in the crash.
That was what tied the stories together, the loss of the two true loves - really it was a main theme running through the whole story, more than those two characters experienced it. Some were willing to give them up and move on and others were not.
