Underrated

Not a bad movie at all.
And the film is way underrated.

I agree. It is a great story, somewhat complex with many elements involved.

The setting was wonderful, the music fit, a lot of the camera work on the underwater scenes was really cool.

I read that it was the directors first feature film, and unfortunately that kind of shows itself which prevented the movie from being as good as it could have been.

Many people on the board here have complained about the acting and accents and I must agree that even as a Kirsten Dunst fan, she really did not do too good in this film.

Some of the editing was spotty as well.

But regardless of the shortcomings, it is very much worth watching.

I saw this back in 2000 and I loved it! I instantly had a crush on Trent Ford and remembered him ever since!

Now, 18 years later, I'm rewatching it because of Daniel Bruhl and I agree, though the mythic haunting story still has an impact, the acting of Dunst and Ford were quite distracting. Funny how I never took notice of it before but now, the acting and acting of Dunst especially, was very cringey. But if this was the first feature film of the director, then I can't help but blame them on it because Dunst though young has delivered stronger performances at a younger age.

Of course now, my crush is on Bruhl, no longer on Ford, lol! & becuase of the acting I feel like it deserves a 7/10, rather than an 8/10 but I can't bring myself to lower the score somehow!
