But they only stole the questions. not the answers
and they had to work out/find out the answers on their own
So they did actually study and do the work. yes they had a leg up by writing all the answers down and just copying them, but they were their answers...

you're right in that they still had to do the research ahead of time.. but the whole purpose of an exam is to be able to reason out the answers to questions with no specific prior knowledge of what questions will be asked.. having the answers ahead of time eliminates the need to think and THAT is what gives someone an unfair advantage..

Maybe they were able to solve some of the questions on their own, but if you didn't notice, they called their teachers, buddies etc., to figure out a lot of the answers. Plus they had Dr. Plecki - a very well-educated teacher at their disposal. If you don't consider that cheating, then what is?
