Am I the only one...

who didn't think this movie was half bad? After reading the comments and reviews at this site, it seems I'm one of the only people who thought this was a good movie. Maybe it's because I've never seen the Omen, which it seems to be compared to a lot. So I didn't see this movie as a cheap rip-off of anything.

The story was actually pretty solid. I didn't see what was coming, especially all the twists at the end, none of which I'll mention here. I've seen Laura Harris in a few other things, she's what initially made me want to watch. The little boy is extremely creepy. His eyes, his voice, the expressions he makes. It's not hard to believe this kid is pure evil. This movie was very effective in making me feel really bad for the mom. You can see it from her perspective, how hopeless it all seems. I was a bit confused by a few parts, but I'm sure if you pay attention, it'll all make sense.

This movie was just on Lifetime and I'm glad I watched it. I never heard of it when it was in theatres. I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of the genre or of any of the actors, or if you're just looking for a movie to watch one night. Don't listen to all the bad reviews on this site. Decide for yourself.

To prove how much I actually liked this movie, I'd be willing to watch the sequel (if they ever make one).

No you are not the only one. I also watched it last night on the Lifetime channel. As you put it, it wasn't half bad. The movie held my attention and I really felt bad for the mother.

BEWARE SPOILER..

I knew that there was something wrong when it was so easy to take the demon child from the mansion. The scene when they were walking past the passed-out partyers, that's when I started to realize something not right.

At the end when they shot the mom, why didn't they kill her? They obviously wanted her dead. That was a perfect time to kill her and the husband had an excuse to do so. I know the answer, movie people wanted make room for a sequel. (I would also watch the sequel if they did make one.)

I loved how the movie ended with the priest taking off his collar, throwing it out the window, the satanist picking it up, and putting it on. Symbolizing the changing of the world.

Yeah, I didn't pick up on how easy it was to take the boy from the mansion. After she killed him and all his followers were standing around, i thought for sure she'd be dead. But of course she was narrating, so that's not possible. I think they let her live on purpose, so she'd see the boy's resurrection. I totally didn't see the taxi driver twist coming. And I agree about the end and what it symbolized. It left it open for a sequel which as I said, I would see.

This movie wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. It was actually pretty good.

Spoiler….

I was also in shock that the taxi driver was the devil himself. First I thought he was an angel, than when they were taking Dylan from the mansion; I figured out that he was a follower. But him being the devil, no I didn't see that one coming.

One of the seven most deadly sins is vanity/pride. With that in mind, I think your right. The reason way the husband didn’t kill the mom is because he/they wanted her to see the resurrection. They want her to know that they won.

Ideas for the sequel…

With Dylan resurrection, Christian around the world would view him as the second coming of Christ and would start following his teachings, scary. The mom and the priest would go into hiding and slowly try to get the word out that Dylan isn’t who they think he is. It would be nice to see an angel coming down to help the mom and priest. EDIT TO SAY, It would also be nice to see Dylan betray Aunt Elizabeth and daddy or should I say step daddy :). I am sure Dylan doesn't feel love or trust. He could easily toss people aside that are no longer of use to him.

Sadly that all I have right now. The movie was made/released in 2000. With this message board not being that active and it being 2006, I would be quite shock if they made a sequel.

Best wishes.

I realy liked it too. I am a bit confused cuz I didn't watch all of it.

SPOILER************************************************

I totaly didn't see the taxi driver being evil. I was kinda rooting for him to be the good guy all along, and he just looked rough and gruff. Oh well it was still realy good!

My God, I just watched it and I have to say it was completely marvelleous. But the twist at the end, taxi driver as the demon of the demons. Wow, what the hell happened here!? He was suppose to be good, and then he just turns bad. That sucked.

A sequel would be so great, but it's a very long time passed, I don't think they will make it :(

I love the end...

I think the movie suffers from a cardinal flaw a lot of such movies suffer from. It takes some elements of christian and christian apocryphal mythology and spins a yarn. What it does not, however, is give us a decent explanation about how the situation at the beginning came about. Why all the fuss? Why all the elaborate schemes? These movies totally throw out the "good" part of the mythology in a "God is dead" kind of way, without explicitly stating so. He must have died pretty recently, too, otherwise why didn't the whole thing not already happen 500 years ago?

Of course, providing a "deus ex machina" does not make for very good storytelling. But at least it is an indication of taking one's premise seriously. For all its trashiness and Europe-bashing, Megiddo:The Omega Code 2 at least took the premise somewhat seriously.

If you like this type of movie, you should watch "The Reaping" with Hilary Swank. EXCELLENT movie!

I liked it but mostly because of Laura Harris. The writing falls apart at the end. I was left with kind of just a ....."HUH??"

It was better than I had expected and Miss Harris is a goddess. I've been waiting for her to become a superstar ever since 'The Faculty' Great acting, amazing voice, and one of the most beautiful faces to ever be filmed.

GO LAURA GO!

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??
