Beyond the Mat....

I was just watching the movie again last night, and when Foley was preparing for his match with The Rock you can clearly see them putting the blade in place on the right side of his scalp. He later mentions to Rock something along the lines of, "You were hitting me here (points to left side of scalp) instead of HERE (points to humongous bandage on right side of scalp)".

I just thought it was interesting that during a movie that discusses so many of the secrets behind kayfabe, that shows Jake the Snake pissing in a garbage can, Droz puking, Al Snow talking about how he never got the chances he expected from Vince, that even during the director's commentary they gloss right over that specific item.......

Speaking of Al Snow, it doesn't appear that Vince was too pissed about his comments in the movie even though he refused to allow it to be advertised during his shows (after cooperating so fully during the filming). I never really liked the "Crazy Al Snow and Head" character, but I absolutely love him on the Tough Enough shows......

Beyond The Mat is a must for any true wrestling fan. I've watched it so many damn times and it never gets old, still fascinates me. I just wanna know, I got the Universal Special Edition VHS, does the DVd have alot more stuff on it, because I wanna get that too. For a diehard wrestling fan, it gets an A++++, great film.

The DVD has some commentary extras.... Foley does two short commentaries on the two match segments he is in, there is a full length director's commentary and an extended (I'm not sure if it's full length) interview/commentary with Terry Funk.

Foley talks alot more about the "Royal Rumble" match in his book (he wrote two, i think it was in his second). He was pretty pissed with The Rock with how the match went, and was devastated when he saw his kids' reaction.

If you like this movie and haven't read his books do so, both of them. They're the only wrestling biography's I've read because they're the only true autobiography, he wrote them with no help of a ghost author. Very great reads.
