NOTHING posted about this movie?!

that's a shame!

reply

Yes indeed it is a shame!
I first saw this excellent little film in 2003 after buying the DVD then recommending it to a "friend" who borrowed the DVD only for the age old story happening of lending something out never to get it returned again.
As far as I am aware it has never even premiered on UK terrestrial tv & so it was good after all these years to see it finally air on the Hallmark channel although it was abit puzzling as to why it premiered in the early hours on a minor cable channel though.........
Anyway it was worth the wait in seeing it again-It is a little gem!

This Great Film had a hugh effect on me, you dont believe how much I cried at the end of film...when poor woman (befor being hunged) was shoating and calling his father: dady...dady...help...noooooo.....
Horrible...was it realy True story? was British jusice like that about 80 years ago???
Shamfull...I can not imagine Excution of women (I am a man, myself)
Finally I can compare this great film with "I WANT TO LIVE" (1958) similar story about BARBARA GRAHAM (in usa)
And another one: CHICAGO (2002)
Execution of ladys=Brutall and Unti Humaniti...

(I am Middle-East fan of this film and I not Muslim) :)

Yes it is a really good but under-rated little film isn't it & yes the events portrayed did happen in England in 1923 too (one of the great miscarriages of justice they say).
A very similar film you may also be interested in is the 1985 Brit film "Dance With a Stranger" starring Miranda Richardson playing killer Ruth Ellis (the last woman to be hanged in Britain in 1955).
Again many say that she was also a victim of circumstance with Ruth being cruelly manipulated by her upper crust but ultimately lazy & unreliable boyfriend.
I have seen the film Dance With a Stranger times (it is easily available to obtain on video etc) & it just seems to get better with every repeat viewing!
"Enjoy!" (but maybe that's not quite the correct word to use though!)

Dear Ambiance35:
Thanks a lot for your Reply, I dont know if you are a man or woman, but I am
an IRANIAN MAN (26 years old). I havent seen that movie but I am going to check out for it.
But I can not Enjoy...some movies have bad efect on me (like these films that we see JUSICE kill Inocent women, very very stupid)
But as I know, still in many countries_Like: IRAN, CHINA, USA and..._Justice order sometimes to punish criminal ladies, Dead-Penalty...thats what I realy can not understand it.
Enyway, thanks again and sorry if there is any problem in my English

Sadly this film got a limited release, so that's why it is largely unknown.

It s really a mistery the distribution and release of movies.
This one has enough merits as to be watched in cinemas, but ... people have to catch it on TV quite unexpectedly.

There are not many movies speaking about the 20s in Britain.

Perhaps there are flaws but not in the actors.

I just borrowed it from netflix but haven't watched it yet. I do remember reading some about the actual case.

I have now watched it and was disappointed. It spent most of the time dwelling on before the murder. Then sped trhough the murder, trial and execution in a few minutes as if they realized they were out of time.

This was on TCM last night. I have it recorded but haven't watched it yet.

F Tennyson Jesse's book, "A Pin To See The Peepshow" was dramatised in (I think) the early 70s with Francesca Annis, and Rene Weis's book "Criminal Justice" about the case is well worth reading.

Don't get arrested - even Seth knew that and he used to point at planes.
