If I'd been Edie (spoiler)

I would have taken up with her boss (Tom Wilkinson) rather than with Freddy since Freddy was a boy (18) compared to Mr. Carlton. I liked what he said to her about no longer having her wings clipped and being lifted up high rather than being kept down. Perhaps though I'm prejudiced since I am a big Wilkinson fan and only watched the movie because of him. At least if she became his "concubine" she wouldn't have wound up in the gallows.
