Feature Film

21 years have passed since JAYCE AND THE WHEELED WARRIORS was first aired on TV. I thought it was a good sci-fi series. I would like to see it be turned into a feature-film for the big screen. I always imagined Jake Lloyd as Jayce.
With the makeup and special effects we had today, i think it's the perfect time
for a JAYCE AND THE WHEELED WARRIORS motion picture, based on the TV series.
I could imagine the Limp Bizkit song "Rollin'" in the trailer. Still i would love to see it happen.

A movie of this would kick ASS....I've been saying it for ages!!

Interestingly enough there were plans to make an animated film during the series intial run on television. However poor sales of the toys and the lack of interest in renewing the series canceled that out. However a script was written. This script was to have Jayce going on a bigger more exciting adventure, finally meeting up with his father, facing his father's sudden death at the hands of SawBoss and Jayce finally destroying the monster minds once and for all. You will probably think I am joking if I tell you this but the script was written by none other than J. Micheal Stryackznksi (sp?) of Babylon 5 fame. He and fellow writter Larry DiTillo once wrote episodes for Jayce. I believe he is still holding on to the script and will not release it for fan reading at all. He was kind enough though to tell everyone he worked on it and that he likes the Lightning League.

Maybe someday someone will have the courage to take Jayce into the 21st century with a live action movie.

I hope so too. I hope one day someone will make a JAYCE AND THE WHEELED WARRIOR
feature film based on the animated series. I think it would make a really good film. I still thought Jake Lloyd would had made a good Jayce, i think he'd suit
the part.

reply

Yeah a film would be amazing...
Except for hollywoods usual:
Overall changes i.e. Monsterminds taken out and flowerpot men used instead and using crap director's.
Whats the bet that Paul WS Anderson (yes I know he's the computer game into film guy) gets directing or worse... Scripting

I love this cartoon and would be interested in a film version but we've all seen what can happen

Sam Raimi could direct it.With EFX by KNB EFX.
An unknown should play Jayce,
and Tim curry could do the voice of Saw Boss.
This should be shot for a PG13 rating,
but keep it as true to the original series as possible.
Danny Elfman, John Williams,
or even Orbital could dp the score.

AND NO UWE BOLL, YOU CAN'T BE INVOLVED IN ANY WAY OR FORM!

Is There Life On Mars?

reply

I agree that it should be done by a real master in both direction and FX. Sam Raimi would definately get my vote! Tim Curry as Saw Boss....Has good possibilities, I could definately get with that! PG13 wouldn't bother me at all. Had this been 10 maybe 15 years ago, I would be against that but I think most kids are sophisticated enough for the level of intensity Jayce requires. Danny Elfman and John Williams would be great, maybe even Don Davis. And I agree.....NO UWE BOLL!! AT ALL!!!

That said I want a remix of the Opening and closing themes too!

reply

I wonder who should play Herc Stormsailer? UIt has to be someone who can act as the comic relief, yet be serious in times of danger at the same time.

"Keep Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'!"

reply

Bruce Campbell (http://imdb.com/name/nm0132257/) would make the perfect Herc.

Beyond good. Beyond evil. Beyond your wildest imagination.

reply

Yes, definatly. Yes. It would make perfect sense since I suggested Sam Raimi direct it. Do you think IAn McKellen would make a good Gillian?

Oon would probably be CGI, Flora would probably be played by an unknown, as well as Jayce.

Plus, to make the film as good of quality as the show, the budget would probably be through the roof. (like around $200-$300 million)

You can probably tell Ive been giving this a lot of thought, huh? :)

reply

Despite the fact that Sam Raimi is my favourite direcor ever (my username is a clever take on Evil Dead II), I reckon that James Cameron would be a better choice to direct. What with The Terminator and Aliens under his belt, he has easily proven that he's the top dog when it comes to sci-fi action movies. And is it just me, or did those big futuristic tanks from the start of Terminators 1 and 2 remind anyone else of the MonsterMinds?

Same here, only differance being that The MonsterMinds are organic machines. But yes, they remind me of the MonsterMinds.

I can tell the MonsterMinds (in non vehicle forms) would also look very H.R. Giger-esqe.

God I Used To Love This Show!

Some cartoons practically beg to be a live-action feature film. This is it--it was simply ahead of it's time!

reply

Yes, Rollin would be an awesome song to hear in the trailer.

"Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin, Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin, Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin, Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin."

reply

I'm glad you agree about the song by Limp Bizkit for the trailer, the closing song at the end of "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" was "Keep on Rollin".

Limp Bizkit - "Rollin" (Music Video)

reply

"Rollin" by Limp Bizkit would be perfect for the theme in the trailer.

As for the cast, Heres a good cast.

Herc Stormsailor - Bruce Campbell
Flora - Dakota Fanning
Oon - Luba Goy (Voice)
SawBoss - Micheal Wincott

Awesome cast, and I too want a movie of this badly!

My cast as it stands now...

Jayce - Justin Chatwin
Herc Stormsailor - Bruce Campbell or Hugh Hackman
Flora - Rhiannon Leigh Wryn
Gillian - Patrick Stewart
Oon - Luba Goy (Voice)
SawBoss - Micheal Clarke Duncan (Voice)

Oon and SawBoss would be computer generated as would all the monsterminds

Thousands die every day for no reason at all, where's your bleeding heart for them?

You also have my vote for the live-action adaptation.

I have not visited this thread in over a year. Nothing has changed, except for the director.

evildan, you are right, James Cameron should direct this.

Now is the next challenge.

Who would produce this? I know JC can produce his own flicks, but if a producer was picked who would you hope for.

reply

Garrett Hedlund as Jayce. Chris Pine as Herc Stormsailer. Ian McKellen as Gillian. Hugo Weaving as Saw Boss. Saoirse Ronan as Flora. Verne Troyer as Oon and Viggo Mortensen as Audric. James Cameron the Director.

reply

They could do Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors as a big screen trilogy and make dark and epic.
