Explain the story...

Could someone please explain the story of this show to me, like where the hell did those plant things come from, and why do they chase that kid with the unfortunately coloured hair? And who's got his Dad?
Man I loved the 80's...

Um, I think Jayce's dad originally created the plant brain thing by accident in some experiment... and it sorta... ran away and became that guy that lives underground, who then spawns all the other things.

I dunno. Maybe I'm making it up. Dunno the answer to the rest.

Just to be more distinct, this is the story.

In a far away universe (supposedly) the brilliant scientist Audric toils to create a plant that can grow anywhere in the universe, and thus feed starving civilizations on worlds that are inhospitable to less hardy plants. As he works on modifying the plants roots in his lab, his research facility is struck by a inntense blast of radiation from the sun. This solar flare mutates the plants into the monsterminds and they begin to multiply and take over the planet and lab Audric built. Audric escapes with Oon and steals away to an orbital facility to create a defense against the monsterminds. He creates the root but before he can graft the roots together and end the threat of the moster minds they attack his orbital lab. He is forced to send OOn to find Jayce alone, and Audric once agains escapes with his half of the root unharmed. Thus the search begins with Oon rendesvousing with Jayce and the rest is pretty much history. Jayce is the kid with the funny hair. Probably inherited from his father Audric since he has the same pattern. THe monsterminds want Jayce to get his portion of the root. Failing to stop Jayce, they must find Audric and eliminate his portion of the root. No one has Audric really. Audric disappeared and swore that he would try to find Jayce with all his might, but not every plan works or survives an attack of the monster minds. A few times Jayce has been left hints to where Audric is only to arrive too late or in one instance Audric was teleported to Jayce's location, by a strange man with a homemade teleporter. Just as Jayce was running to his father, the teleporter malfunctioned and inadvertently beamed Audric to another location that Jayce and the inventor of the machine couldn't decipher. So basically it was a classic "romp through the galaxy" type show.

Cool. But did it ever end? Like did Jayce find his father in the final episode, or was there just an abrupt ending? I'm super-fascinated with 80's cartoons you see.

I can't realy explain the ending as the last time i saw all 85 episode's was on channel 4 in the early 90's. however i can tell you that Jayce does meat up with his father properly (normally get's to where he was to late or he is taken away again) before the final episode and that he confronts SawBoss becasue the last episode's name is Journey's End. Foxkids in the U.K are playing this again at about 12pm before this is M.A.S.K and Ulysses 31 but they only play about 10 different episode's of each program.
