Filled With Problems:

After watching this show again I now see tons of problems that I can't just ignore.

During season 1, they have a cheaper set with revolving doors. (The hinges are in the middle of the door instead of the side.) There are four doors. One of the doors, the third one from the audience view, is replaced with what looks like elevator doors but I don't see how the doors could have opened without getting in the way of the other three doors. Amanda mainly used this door so the other doors were not upgraded. During the next season, you see a movie screen behind The Amanda Show Logo, the doors were repainted, and the "A"s in the middle of the doors light up, but otherwise are exactly the same flaw.

Raquel Lee was a main character and played Sheila on The Girl's Room. She left the cast after the first season and was replaced by Josh Peck. They kept The Girl's Room segment and replaced her with Reagan Gomez-Preston.

Johnny Kassir was another character who was not replaced at all. He was an adult character to play all the "Father" sketches while Nancy Sullivan played all the "Mother" sketches with Amanda and sometimes the other child actors as their children. When he left, his position went to numerous people.

Too much production changes in the second season. The got rid of the stop motion segments, but they also got rid of all the animation segments, except for very rare appearances. The opening segment was no longer animated and was shortened tremendously. But I suppose that is a good thing be cause the animated amanda opening showed a very excited amanda uttering various noises and comments.

Josh Peck was missing in four of the episodes of season 2 and 3.

One episode the character Penelope Taynt is missing entirely.

Season 3 was when the series started to run out of ideas. They made 8 out of 10 (the shortest season so far) episodes a "Moody's Point" segment, and ended it with a cliffhanger. The segment was extremely long compared to the other segments, very slow paced compared to the other segments, and would have been better if they wrapped it up faster. Very little happens in each "episode" that it should have been told in three minutes. Moody's Point was probably going to return for the 4th season or get spun off, but neither happened.

The 4th season is a clip show, and only 6 episodes. Raquel Lee gets a stock footage credit.

Production Problems Plague many shows where the main characters are Child Actors. They rarely last a long time, and now the kids are grown so there is absolutely no way for the show to pick up where it left off. Perhaps a Reunion show could happen that can resolve all the cliff hangers.

I am not saying that the actors and actresses are bad, but the show itself has so many production problems that I couldn't watch it any more. The show unravels quickly and before you know it there aren't any more episodes to watch.

Fortunately The Amanda Show is mostly available to watch, except for a few episodes that aren't aired any more. Curiosity Shop on the other hand, was lost. This was probably because of ABC's negligence, but my point is that Curiosity Shop was a show that had millions of different segments but still ran out of ideas quickly.

One other thing: Curiosity Shop was filmed, apparently with Color Kinescope. The Amanda Show was video taped. I hate Video Tape.
