Glass opens in theaters this weekend. One could argue that negates this installment of Movies That Were Supposed to Launch Franchises, but didn’t… Glass is clearly a follow-up of sorts to Unbreakable. But it’s also a sequel to M. Night Shyamalan’s 2016 hit, Split. And really, without that movie, Glass wouldn’t exist. So, on it’s own, Unbreakable still failed to launch a franchise despite the existence of a sequel.

When did franchises get so confusing anyway?!?
