Thai Ghost Perspective

The movie is interesting in comparing a Thai perspective of ghosts to that of a Western perspective.

For a start these aren't spoilers because an outline of what will unfold is given at about the 30 second mark of the film. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that the movie is based on Thailand's most widely-known supernatural tale. But could you imagine that happening in "The Others" or "The Sixth Sense"?

There is little suspense or creepiness associated with Nak.

She's like an ectoplasmic intruder who simply can't/won't leave.

Just about every one in the village can see her and a big positive is that she still likes getting on with all the every day chores around the house.

She only gets nasty if any one attempts to interfere with what she considers her property and her domestic life.

It's a different view of things.
