one of the lamest remakes in history

Yeesh... I want those 4 hours of my life back!

The orig Jason has been one of my all time favs throughout my life... I did not expect to like this one better, but I did expect that they would at least attempt to do better with the spcl effects in the year 2000, then they did way back in 1963... but they most certainly did not!

I mean how the hell could you do a remake of this flick, and not even have Talos in it with his creaking metal joints?!? I guess the creaking metal bull was suppose to replace him... and the ultra-cool battle with the skeletons gets replaced by the new jason doing some whimpy looking gymnastic moves amidst what amounts to corn-stalks with swords that are so lame they chop each other to death?!?

Agreed. Where was the "epic" masterpiece that this could of been? Maybe we need to get that Peter Jackson to do it right.

Also my view on the "star"

agreed! Who was that guy? I know I have seen him in something... I simply can not understand how stuff this horrid gets made!?! I mean, this cost money!!!

If they are gonna make crap... why ruin the reputations of classic films? Now you know if the orig was to come back onto tv, anyone who had seen this, and never saw the orig, would most likely not even bother.

I am waiting for Citizen Kane with Brad Pitt to be made...

LMFAO Know you've done it!!! You know the chances of this happening at some point are better than not!

Citizen Cane starring Brad Pitt

The Waterfront starring Heath Ledger

Streetcare named Desire starring Ethan Hawke

and the Oscar goes to.....

hey I just noticed your quote at the bottom from Bladerunner... right? One of the few movie/book combos where I liked the movie much better... sad, they don't make them like that anymore either...

reply

Thank you...I feel the same way. The book was mediocre at best. A little too out there maybe. Really enjoyed the movie.
I've never read the short story that "Total Recall" was based on but that one was another Phillip Dick story. I've heard both good and bad.

(On) The Waterfront starring Heath Ledger

...well, not that one obviously.

He could have. But not now.

RIP Heath Ledger 1979-2008

Jason London starred in the title role. Check him out here on IMDB. He's done a lot of films. He has a twin brother, Jeremy, who has done quite a bit of TV.

The original Jason is one of my faves, absolutely, but this is not a remake, this version pretty much follows the actual Epic Poem," The Argonautica" by Apollodorus. its pretty close, some embellishments yes, but way closer than the 63 version

ok... that may well be, but this is a case where you gotta give style points to the more "made-up" version then.

reply

remake? in what sense? this is based on the story.

dont be daft

reply

umm... this isnt based on a true story, its based on a myth, lol... A myth isnt a true story, it's just a story. So try not to call people daft since you're being daft yourself, lol.

But yeah, it's just a remake of the mythological adaption from the 1963 film. I havent seen that version, so I cant be a fair judge to it, but I did enjoy this one... It wasnt the best, could have been better, but I still enjoyed it, lol.

well the two movies are almost completely different. ive watched them almost back to back and i have to say i prefer this version. of course firstly it is longer, it is truer to the myth *beep* ending aside) and has great scenes that are just big wow moments. the crashing rocks thing was awesome as was the flight from Colchis. to the Jason thing i didnt think Jason London was spectacular but Todd Armstrong could not act at all. i felt as though he had been hired off the street along with a few others

i enjoy both of them and i view them as different versions rather than original and remake. it doesnt really count as a remake since it is based on a myth and follows an almost completely different version of the story. the 1961 version is more fun and the effects are nice to watch but the 2000 version is more epic and truer to the story

whose *beep* jizz is it!!!??

I totally agree, this was just yet ANOTHER disappointing remake. The exclusion of Talos, the statue, was the BIGGEST disappointment, I was anxious to see how they would do it in 2000. This version is best forgotten, especially the ending. I don't think the writers/producers of this film even know greek mythology.
