I'm with you, MongoLloyd. It's probably not the case that every single one of the dancers at a given club is leading a life of unrelenting misery, but a goodly percentage of humans are more unhappy than any of us would like to think. "Quiet desperation" is the norm, not the exception. Sad observation, but true. We should remember, too, that this film was an improvisation by a group of very talented actresses who could have made their characters lighter if they didn't agree with us.

its not their fault that society has such a self-hatred that they make sex-work a shameful dirty secret. Stripping, prostitues, porn, society causes the problems that they claim exist in those jobs. The drugs, exploitations etc.
So, no strippers are NOT losers, society makes them into losers.
I agree with bryguy ..... I think this is what people think or a composite of sad tells of some strippers but not all entertainers lives are like that.

Society does tell you if a person did xy or z you have little to respect for yourself . So you in turn don't deserve any respect. This should not be the norm
