Wrestling

Did anyone think that the guys at the Powerhouse really went overboard on Louis for his question?
I mean, he acknowledged that wrestlers were great athletes and everything, he just asked about the storylines...
To push him against his will to the point that he spews seems a little over the top.

reply

its because some wrestlers will not break character for any reason so he worked him just the same as everyone else at the power plant which was a really tough wrestling school that was owned by wcw, even dave batista didnt complete it

From whence you came, you shall remain, until you are complete again!!!

So it's not cos wrestlers have pea sized brains and believe they are 'genuine athletes' instead of fat, sweaty 'actors' that wear tights?

Jesus died for our sins. As he's already dead...sin away.

reply

They are athletes, but the douche went to far. It was a really funny episode though. I especially liked Louis' wrestler speech. "I have to tell you, with the utmost respect, that I think you are going down." Classic! :D

They are athletes

No. They are steroid swallowing, muscle bound idiots. That follow a scripted fight.
Nothing "athletic" about that at all.

If a true athlete turned up on the track doped up and found to be taking part in a pre-arranged race...they would be ridiculed and stripped of any accolades.

These guys are muscular and fit bad actors, not athletes.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

The athleticism involved in pro wrestling is not in winning, it's in putting on an entertaining show and you are seriously underestimating the skill and difficulty involved in putting on said shows. That's not to say that every single pro wrestling match is going to be athletically intense but that's just the same as how not every movie is going to be Oscar-caliber. Some are classics, some are badly "acted" duds.

How can you say that with a straight face? You're talking about dishonesty within an unscripted sport. Pro wrestling by definition is scripted entertainment so it's nothing like a fixed race. Would you call Die Hard or Back to the Future a sham documentary? Call it what it is, don't hold it to standards of something that it isn't.

Ignorant comment.

I thought that was -- to use a wrestling phrase -- a work. I mean, for the dude -- who probably sees a thousand people a week -- to even remember Louis and that question and take it out on him, and also to actually pretty much say "I'm taking this out on you for asking me this question" (paraphrased)... I mean, come on.

But then I read that Batista's book and he said that Sarge dude did the same crap to Batista and Batista's friend, so yeah.

The Sarge was pissed at Louis questions about the fixed outcome of mqatches. Sarge thought that he was implying the sport was fake. So he decided to show Louis a part of what they had to go through.

reply

The Sarge is one of the biggest idiots in Wrestling, I would say he suffers from Napoleon complex (short man syndrome) and is bitter that he was nothing more than a jobber. As for "J McClane" comment about wrestlers not being athletes, the guy is obvious ignorant and knows nothing about the wrestling business.

reply

The Sarge thinks that his methods work, but the Power Plant produced just one success story- Bill Goldberg!

Batista didn't need the Power Plant anyway. He went to WWE, became a household name and multi-time champion, and then transitioned that to a successful movie career.
