It is sad that not only is there no longer ECW style matches all the time (instead of just some of the time) but they really let the ECW World title get tarnished. I mean, having it be given to a 2nd rate wrestler like Nitro is one thing (especially when it should have been Benoit, but the WWE can't be blamed for what happened there) but to have him lose BY SUBMISSION to the very guy (Cena) who lost his title in order to recreate the ECW World title was a poor way to treat the title. Also, the Chavo-CM Punk match should have happened at the Royal Rumble, not on ECW and Chavo should have never been in the Rumble itself, as it makes his title look weaker than the other 2 titles (why enter a tournament when the title you have is supposed to be better than all the other titles around? That's why Shane Douglas threw away the old NWA title in favour of the ECW title; it was supposed to be better, a new title that all the old ones (NWA, WWF/E, WCW, etc)). Now the ECW title is a joke, and so is the ECW again.
What should of happened was a trade-off of sorts: Sure, barb-wire matches and the like can't be done every night (after all, the performers are only human) but have the ECW matches remain ECW matches, not WWE matches. The Hardcore division that the WWE (and to some extent, WCW) had proved that the wrestlers can in fact work 'No-DQ' matches for several weeks without getting seriously injured all the time. Since it only happens once a week, having several carefully scripted, properly set-up Hardcore matches on ECW would help bring back the credibility of the current ECW. It'll still be 2nd rate compared to Raw/Smackdown, but at least it'll give the people who want to see a fight instead of Triple H/Cena/JBLetc yak-yak-yaking away on Raw instead of actually wrestling or waiting until Friday night to watch a Smackdown match that was performed the previous Tuesday (thus losing it's attraction when the people can read about it on spoiler sites and watch it on YouTube beforehand).
If it were up to me, not only would it still be all Hardcore (barb-wire, cage matches, etc) but it would also be a cross-over promo once again, so that matches such as Sting vs HBK can be made under ECW rules and neither of the other two promotions will be harmed as the ECW matches can still be referred to as garbage matches by the promotions themselves, thus retaining face by any promo that ends up losing against the other. Of course, that won't ever happen, but then again neither will a cross-over of UFC vs WWE or TNA as the UFC fighters would actually kill most of the wrestlers (as much as I like wrestling, real 'fighting for your life' still takes scripted fights every time and no that's not me insulting wrestling; think of it more like Bruce Willis actually taking on a actual New York cop in a real fight. Sure, John Mclane is one of the coolest action heros of all time, but Willis would be taken down (if not flat-out killed), just as most of the wrestlers would be taken down by the fighters from UFC (granted guys like Angle could put up a fight, but for the most part the wrestlers will be beaten).)
For those of you who agree, disagree, or just want to plug shamelessly about their favourite products, feel free to do so. Peace Out.

This isn't ECW and never will be.
However, it does mean i get to see CM Punk with more ease.

I jsut shut my eyes and bear through it, thinking of the days of old with RhInO etc.
