I think not. I didn't know about this or the brilliant Whistle and I'll Come to You before this evening, and they're both very well done, very unsettling. It's the lack of sound effects, the feeling of loneliness in a vast landscape - and the possible presence of something that's neither alive nor dead that makes it so atmospheric. No cheap thrills, just disturbing.

Well said. I too didn't know about this one, but both this and "Whistle" are truly masterpieces. Less is more, and this is horror in it's purest form.

I recently watched, for the first time, 'Whistle...' and saw 'Warning....' tonight and although quite similar both have an unnerving tone to them.

The fact that wherever you go you will never feel alone - and not in a nice way - is rather unsettling, wouldn't you agree?
I thought the music lended itself marvellously to the scenes and commanded a great fear along with Peter Vaughn's subtle and understated performance.

Quite simply, it's what you DON'T see is what makes this more frightening.

I just revisited this after years and was surprised at how much this still managed to creep me out even though I knew where it was going. Still a great flick! Maybe try revisiting it some time. One movie I DID find overrated was The Woman in Black (1989), which did nothing for me!

It's understandable how this would not be effective if you were looking for excitement. Neither the author nor this series were about the grand effect but instead the telling detail: the Depression setting and the protective crown, the several references to things buried, the doctor's unremarked switch and his attendant guilt. These are films you watch fully engaged, not with the expectation they will jump out and go BOO! If you do go in with the knowledge that you will have to actively participate, the rewards will be many.
