Goliaths - they remind me of the big clunky mechanized bots from Warhammer 40k. Big huge guns and stuff..

BattleCrusiers- I love the scene in the opening movie where the guy looks up and see's that huge crusier above his head with the booming of guns and lights going around it.

Carrier- I love the interceptor ships that it can carry. Ultimate desctruction if you have a few of those.

Ghosts- "KEssh He's Gone" enough said. They just look kewl

Marines- I love their armor, wish I had a suit.

You gotta love those Battlecruisers....especially with Yamato Guns.

I think my favorite unit in the whole game is the Hydralisk. I'd hate to run across one of those in a ......well...anywhere.

Zerg: Hydralisk and Guardian
Protoss: Zealot and Carrier
Terran: Battlecruiser and Siege Tank (Arclight equipped of course)

Best RTS ever!!!

reply

Terran - Siege Tanks in Siege mode(and Marines, but partially because Siege Tanks are useless without them)

Protoss - Zealots (ZEALOT RUSH!), Dark Templars, and Archons (can't really chose which ones I like better)

Zerg - Lurkers (Lurker Push! - You might want to Google that)

reply

Zerg: Hydralisk (by far the best soilder out of the 3 races, great against ground and air units and cost so little to make)

Terran: Siege Tanks (in siege mode the are amazing at taking down ground forces, especially if camped in a good area)

Protos: Carriers (always scares the hell outa anyone in the room with u when you are doing a LAN and they hear "carrier has arrived")

Ghost by far.

Zerg: Lings<-They're like dogs... except they only live to kill ^-^
Toss: Mmm... Neh.
Terran: Rines

Cinematically, I love Battle Cruisers. Flat-out. I love Galactic space battles that involve huge cruisers and the like.
Marines as well. (Addressing the guy who wanted their armour, keep in mind, it's made out of scrap metal... and garbage. Heh) Hypothetically, if they made a Starcraft movie, Marines would be the main narration.
Too bad there aren't too many Goliath shots in combat. One getting destroyed, and another in a heroic pose.

Gamewise, Siege tanks are my all, along with Science Vessels and Cruisers (Cruisers, or Wraiths and Valkyries)
Everyone loves EMP, right? Irradiate is pretty weird as well. And Defensive Matrix is promising.

My favorite unit gameplay wise is the Tank. man that thing kills ground forces, especially Zerg. But the coolest is the ghost.

i like the goliath but i think in one of the updates they lowered the ground damage to 12... or if that was the original, anyway, its rediculous... so basically because it has two 'autocannons' that combined does 12 damage while one marine gun does 6.. so it has two infantry machine guns on it?? always hated that. course the argument is its an air defense but still... i also really like vultures early in the game if someone is pushing me with zealots or marines, eats em up when protected

marines+stimpacks+medics is my all time favorite though..

zerg... guardians
protoss archons, not against a decent terran player though

reply

Vulture, High Templar/DT, Hydra.

Too bad about the carriers though... look impressive, and having 8 carriers, each with their 8 interceptors, attack something at once, looks like you monitor has caught on fire...
But the carriers are so easily destroyed... I've never seen even one case in whitch you could take out a well-trained opponent with carriers - you only need to have all-air units attack directly the carriers - and that kills all the interceptors of that carrier as well.
By all-air units i mean - Protoss Corsairs (they rule!), Terran Valkyries (bitchin' - they may be better than Corsairs, mostly because they're attacks also do "splash-damage"), and Zerg Mutalisks (not sure if i'm correct at this).

Also, the terran Ghost's "lockdown" - you lockdown a carrier, it cannot move or launch interceptors, but it can be fired at and damaged.
And also the Protoss Templar's "Psyonic Storm" - Carriers are slow-moving. Set a few templars to deploy psyonic storms on them and in front of them in their direction of movement, and in most cases, not even half of the carriers will exit the storm - and even the surviving ones will be heavily damaged and easy to take out.

Well, it would be just plain bad design if there was a be-all end-all unit with no weaknesses. Carriers are fantastic, but just like with any other unit, a strong backup is required when dealing with a smart opponent.

My favourites:

Terran - Battlecruiser. The pilot's voice and lines are awesome, and I managed to sort out some of the later, more difficult Terran missions in Brood War just by assembling a battlecruiser fleet and Yamato-ing whatever the key target was (why bother slowly ploughing through enemy defences when all you need to do to score victory is fly over them and slam that Command Center?).

Zerg - Hydralisk. The flagship Zerg unit, the most versatile, and probably the most important. Any Zerg player worth their salt keeps a squad or two ready at all times.

Protoss - Arbiter. The cloaking is cool enough, but recall is the absolute best. There is nothing more satisfying then successfully getting your arbiter over enemy lines, and then recalling your army right into the middle of the enemy base. Especially if they've only placed defenses around the borders...

reply

Wraiths, because they are ships that can turn invisible. Dark Archon because they can mind control drones and SCV's. And Hydralisks, because they own more units than any other zerg, air and land, and they just look cool.

reply

The Dark Archon can control any unit, from what i remember (haven't played in a while), not just SCV's and drones. I might be mistaken ?

Concerning the Protoss Arbiter's capacity of Recall - the best strategy is flying 2 "controls" (expression derived from the fact that you need to press CONTROLs and a number to create a 12 units group - this is known, but i don't know if the expression is used outside of my country) of halucinations, with 2-3 real arbiters inside the groups (this is for use against people that build heavy defenses).

One is assured to get through and use Recall (maybe even 2), to get a bunch of nasty units of yours right in the enemy's nest. I suggest Reavers if protoss, or Ultralisks if zerg, or Siege Tanks if human. Vulnerable to Air, but a few of them Recalled next to the main nest would destroy everything before being anulled by Air units.

i LOVE the voice of the protoss Arbiter

" J'tokoh Zohl. " & "We are vigilant. "

too cool.
