Why does't a StarCraft movie be made ?? - StarCraft (1998) Discussion

Personnaly i don't think i'd like a Starcraft movie...this is such a classic.

Most movies based on video games are disapointing :

Mortal Kombat...i liked it because i was a big fan of the game but its still an awful movie, the sequel is even worst.

Mario Bros : no comments needed, argh.

Alone in the dark : i'm not even looking foward to see it, seems like one of the worst films ever

I can't remember any other right now, but i think games never have enough story to make a good movie, and Starcraft is no exeption. Most of the story would have to be new, and that's what scares me.

I don't like that comparison. Starship Troopers was a satirical adaptation of the book while StarCraft is a videogame with a very involved and long story.

Sure the humans and bugs in ST resemble Terrans and Zerg but I really don't see any other similarities. Starship Troopers, for instance, only showed the human side of the war while a movie about StarCraft couldn't possibly show only the Terran's perspective.

The only way I could see this happening would be if the creators were willing to make one movie for each race to be viewed in a specific order like the campaign mode of the game (which could be pretty cool...) or if a TV series was created instead.

I don't think Ridley Scott would be a good choice...his style of directing (I'm thinking Blade Runner and Alien) is very anticlimactic IMO.

if they ever made a starcraft movie, heres the following tips they would have to follow:

-An excellent screenplay, at least, that flows along with the storyline
-Some professional actors who can resemble and play the characters well
-not much 3-D, maybe for like some parts when like a huge swarm of Zerg infest a planet _example:Tarsonis
-A director with experience with the game and can really let the viewer sit through the whole movie

hey, these are just suggestions...im a big fan of both games and i hope if there ever was a movie, they would have to beat Halo at it

Because Starcraft copied off of so many movies, it would look bad if it was made into a movie.

That's an idea that I'd like to put into play. Even Warcraft MIGHT make for an interesting movie. Blizzard's games have a lot of potential. See, unlike Halo, Starcraft doesn't just narrate on one character. There's full scale war going on. Even if a movie doesn't involve Raynor, or Zeratul, fine! Make up some different characters. That's what's so great about Starcraft. You don't need a large 'champion' for a movie that everyone knows and loves. It could be about another totally different marine.

Though Starcraft does copy a few things, it can get very original. I find, from the things that are copied from Aliens, is mostly the lines. And that's okay. They won't really use any of those quotes from the game anyway. Maybe the, "10-4, Commander!"

There's a whole Universe in Starcraft. Some battles that haven't been narrated about. Starcraft could be an excellent movie. It's full cinematic quality. (I love those cinematic movies)

I would like it in coputer-animation, like the StarCraft: Ghost E3 Teaser. That looked pretty expensive and advanced.

Hi... its 2007 right now and Starcraft Ghost is not out yet and a Starcraft movie isnt out yet...
