G4 most recently published their list of the 100 greatest video games of all time, and ranking at number 17, Starcraft is not only the highest-ranking strategy game, it's the ONLY Real-Time Strategy game on the list (Civ II is turned-based, sorry). Does this make Starcraft is the greatest RTS of all time? To troll the board... yes.

Noah's Ark is a problem.
I'm not sure that makes it the best RTS of all time. But I would agree that it is, in my own humble opinion of course. It's a fantastic game, with a great story, awesome music, phenomenal game play, characters you really care about. It has it all. I've played through Starcraft and Brood War plenty, and right now I'm playing Heart of the Swarm. Starcraft is simply awesome. Any RTS fan that's never played them is missing out. One of the best games ever made. I think the #17 ranking is quite appropriate.
shareEh, the whole game was a giant joke in terms of movie references. It was still good, but it was never meant to be taken seriously.
sharei like the game-play and the fact Blizzard kept the "mass" of the units. (aka Warcraft style)
they feel more real.. and easier to maneuver.
