This game is the hardest one of the bunch

I usually beat the games in 3 days. This one has to be the hardest out of zero-4. I am on Chris's part now and somewhat struggling. I just got the game over the weekend its awesome.

I thought this was the hardest, too. Until I played RE3. CVX gets a lot easier after you beat it the first time.

Couldn't agree more that it's the most difficult RE game to date. When i first picked up the game years ago, i played it and got royally stuck on the Steve monster part. I then picked it up years later and basically saved as many items as possible and conserved as much ammo as possible. That made things a lot easier and i was able to beat the game. Now when i re-play the game, it's a lot more enjoyable!

I was stuck when I got to the Tyrant in the plane... I had two herbs, limited bow ammo and a pistol, I believe. The thing kicked my Assss... So I started a new file and finally beating it. I loved this installment, great story and music and atmosphere.

Yeah, it says in the strategy guide if you don't have all the gun powder bolts than it tyrant is pretty much impossible. If you make good use of the knife throughout the game (knocking them down with a few bullets, then stabbing them) then you should have plenty of ammo to make the game go alot easier.

"Proactive" and "paradigm"... Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important?

reply

its the hardest compared to the enemies in RE4? code veronica are zombies... re4, might as well be real people cus they can throw and shoot *beep* at you.

I cant give you time, no one can. Time is an illusion.

reply

I agree RE4 is the hardest of the bunch, professional difficulty is such a c*unt

reply

Erm excuse me? RE4 the most difficult? Definitely not. I mean sometimes it's hard to kill enemies but getting through the game is not difficult. Although on hard it can be a bitch. It's easier because there's more items to find etc.. than the other games.

Anyone who found RE4 to be THE MOST difficult shouldn't really be playing any RE games.

I've just played through 1,2,3 & CV on their hardest difficulties for the first time in literally years and I breezed through them. In RE1 I was on Danger once, I died once in RE2 (Licker) & 3 (Nemesis) and maybe twice in CV (the only real challenge). By the end of each game I had so much equipment, even with CV. Like 5 first aid sprays, 8 mixed herbs, 100% Uzi's and AK, 30+ Grenade Rounds, 50+ shotgun shells. With RE1 I didn't even touch my Bakooza. I struggled a bit in the beginning of each game getting my ammo together and everything but it was smooth sailing after the 1/4 mark.

Yep, it was a piss take. I didn't have the grenade launcher when I was Chris which was really annoying. I got so stuck when playing as Chris that I had to start over for a SECOND time. This game is so difficult.

Resident Evil Zero was the hardest for me, but this one is very hard too. I've been stuck for about 3 days trying to complete that stupid painting puzzle.

Yeah i would have to agree with it being hard, and I also remember ALOT of dull boring parts in it as well

reply

Yes, I would agree too that CV is annoyingly hard.

These are my reasons:

-First time playing, you never know when you're going to switch with Chris and Claire meaning one can get stuck with all the good weapons/herbs
-Bosses seem too cheap that it's just a question of running away to avoid damage rather than fighting with skill : Tyrant/Steve/Alexia 1 all have really high damaging common attacks
-Regular bowgun is almost worse than the pistol
-AK-47 does nothing when fighting hunters, especially more than 1

My other personal nitpicks with the game:

-shotgun seemed almost incomplete (cock sound is barely audible, no head explosions, weak looking gunfire)
-unnecessary bosses (giant spider/electric thing in the water)
-graphics seemed dull, but understandable being the first full 3d RE game
-soundtrack seemed really out of place at times and too "explosive"
-prison setting in disc 1 just seemed really odd with out of place buildings and locations
-one of the most frustrating ways to get an A ranking for a rocket launcher. I playing through the whole disc 1 without saving and died right at the tyrant on the plane before the free autosave making me waste 2 1/2 hours.

It was an all right game though I thought. Not on my top RE list though.

So far Zero has been the hardest.

I just completed RE:CV last night. It actually wasn't very hard, especially once I got to Chris' part, beat it in like two days.

You go ahead, let your hair down

lol i failed this game so badly, i ended up at that "haunted" mansion and i ran upstairs and this thing started eating my face and then later in the courtyard a bunch of zombie dogs chased and ate me and then i forgot to save the game and quit

STEPH IS THE REAL WINNER!!!

The hardest part for me was sniping Nosferatu without getting poisoned. It was main the sniper rifle's fault as, even zoomed completely in, Nosferatu didn't come into focus until he was basically within attacking range.

Another hard part for me was the trap in the antarctic prison when you had to get the ID card out of the cannon and smash it all within like two seconds. Out of all the REs this one had the most instant game over sequences.

reply

I like to kill Nosferatu with the knife. Bad-ass cutscene.

reply

It's definately the toughest of all the games, a real test of endurance. Makes it all the more rewarding tho when you complete it.

I disagree, I find it much easier than REmake or the early sections of Zero. Mostly due to the fact that CVX is one of the few games in the series where the knife isn't so useless that you're better off not carrying it. Because the zombies can be handled with just the knife (or with a few rounds from the handgun where there are a lot of them), ammo can be saved up for the later, tougher enemies, such as bandersnatches, hunters, or boss monsters.

Helpful hint...slash at their feet as the zombie(s) approach you. Once they're down, continue to slash away until they're (even more) dead. And if you do break out more firepower, only shoot until they fall down...then finish them off with the knife.

Save ALL the explosive bowgun arrows for the Tyrant fight on the plane. If you do so, then that is ALL you will need, ammo-wise. I rarely take anything onto the plane other than the bowgun, the explosive arrows, an herb, and a full handgun.
