US DVD edition

Can anyone tell me if the US DVD edition has REMOVABLE subtitles?

Also, is it WS letterbox or enhanced for 16:9 TVs.

Thanks !

The US DVD does have removable subtitles, and the specifications indicate widescreen 2.35:1 - Enhanced for 16 x 9 televisions.

A question I have is prompted by Julie-117's review which describes the scene where Clara walks down the street in the rain after being stood up in the tea room by Castella. Julie likes the way the camera followers Clara, and contrasts the director's care in that scene to what an American director would do. So I tracked down the scene in anticipation. And to my surprise Clara walks out of the tearoom door, puts on her hat in the rain, and there is nothing more to see. I guess the rest was cut to save us Americans from a scene with no action. Oh, well - still a thoughtful and enjoyable movie, but are any other scenes cut? How would we know?

Thanks for the information. I found the french canadian edition of the DVD and I will check about the scene you described.

We could also compare if both edition have the same runtime.
