Garbage
This film sucked and here are a few reasons why.
1. Most important it's seriously unprofessional. The editing is the worst i have ever seen in a documentary. The director lets it go on and on and on. You get the impression about half way into the film that the band is breaking up and they continue to break up for about 40 minutes. By the time it was finished I was glad to finally see credits.
2.More on editing- the director didn't know when to cut the tape. She would ask a question, get an answer and then just stay on the subject for a painfully long time getting loads of extra garbage. The drummer in particular went on and on repeating the same stuff. You got the sense that there was only so much to tell about this band and they had to prolong it. The drummer is bitter...we get it.
3. The music sucked. While the runaways are a novalty, the music is lame. Nothing memorable about it. Even more sad is the fact they there were new tunes written espescially for it.
4. Lita Ford is a pretentious bore. The only one in the film that had half a career (thought extremly brief), comes off as an idiot. You want to know the real reason Joan Jett didn't do the film? She was the only one who had any success to risk on this.
5. At one point the mother of the drummer is talking and the camera pans to the drummer, and someone actually pushed the camera back on to the mom who was crying.
This film had some potential and some of the info was interesteing, particualry the abuse the girls had to suffer, but even that was rehashed over and over.
If you want to save yourself a good hour and a half here is the film in a nutshell-
Producer verbally abused them, Manager abused them and had sex with all of them but one, Joan and the singer got it on a couple of times, they didn't like each other, the mothers were upset and drummer is bitter that the band quit.
