Anyone like 71 Fragments more?

While Code Unknown is a fine film, I thought his less well-known and very similar 71 Fragments Of A Chronology Of Chance was a masterpiece of modern filmmaking. It felt far more challenging, fulfilling, planned, terrifying, and just an overall more effective movie while Code Unkown perhaps left a bit much... well... unknown.

Yes. I liked it much more. I couldn't generate any interest in the main character's situation and her boyfriend, and the fact that they were self-involved and fairly oblivious to the boyfriend's brother may have been the point, but it wasn't shown powerfully. I also thought the scenes in Roumania were silly.

But I love the first three films tremendously, they are great. I also love Funny Games and Time of the Wolf. The Piano Teacher is scary, but Cache -- meh.

After watching both of them recetnly for the first time, I think I prefer 71 Fragments. I don't feel I've spent enough time with either film, though, especially Code Unknown, because it seems a lot more complex and subtle than 71 Fragments.

Also, 71 Fragments has a few of my favourite Haneke scenes ever, like the old man arguing with his daughter on the phone, and the 3 minute long ping pong scene.

Some velvet morning when I'm straight...

i also liked 71 more, but i probably need to watch bothe movies again. The ping pong scene from 71 is amazing.

I thought Cache was great and the throat slashing scene was maybe the most shocking and surprising thing I've ever seen in a movie. The Piano Teacher is the only Haneke film which I did not care for.

I personally found those two of the films most boring scenes. Not that it was being played for entertainment of course but they seemed to just go on and on.
