So why did Ron Perlman do a FAUX British accent?

Born in NYC and playing a Russian. There were enough Brits in this already.

umm... his bosses -- the producers and director -- told him to do it?

I think it was to make him sound like all the other actors playing Russians. All the key characters were played by Brits.

I agree with crockett_john - Oliver Stone did the same thing in Alexander where all the Macedonians had an Irish accent.
