Man with two faces (Oldman)

I got half way through the movie and brought up IMDB on my laptop to check out this movie. What a SHOCK to find that Buford Dill was played by Gary Oldman. I really identify him with an evil vicious type of character such as in Leon (The Professional) and Air Force One. In this movie he acted and looked the exact opposite and I never would have recognized him.

Oh, but don't you already know that Gary Oldman is a man with milloin faces? ;D

Amen to that, sistah! Who cares about how good the movie is...Gary's in it!
The chameleon of celluloid strikes again...just Netflixed this movie in my quest to see all of Gary's movies. I own most of them, but haven't seen them all yet.

he's dreamy. sigh.

I don't recommmend this as a very good movie, but Oldman's performance (aided by an excellent make-up job) just about makes this movie worth watching. I'm willing to bet that if anyone missed the opening credits, and then started watching the film, they would never guess that it was Gary Oldman.

Shame the movie isn't nearly as good as his performance.

I liked the movie. I thought Gary should've gotten more scenes. some more silly scenes he was great!

Thanks, I actually I hadn't realized the "trivia" and "goofs" links were there until later. Now I check them out, they are interesting, especially the goofs.

Alan Rickman is another actor often associated as the villain ( Die Hard, Rasputin) and yet what a great person he played in Something The Lord Made. Gary Sinise is a good example of a usually good-guy actor that can show his evil side (e.g. RANSOM). My all-time favorite bad-guy was Gary Oldman in the movie Leon (aka The Professional). I imagine his role as the evil corrupt detective tarnished the image of law enforcement a bit.

Alan Rickman was really great in Galaxy Quest, which I've seen 3 times!!!! When I saw it the first time, I kept trying to place the alien Mathesar (a lot of makeup). The light bulb finally went off and I realized he is Enrico Colantoni who plays Elliott in JUST SHOOT ME. Who else could carry off the alien role like he did ("Commander, standing here in your presence is the greatest honor we could ever have hoped to achieve in our lifetimes."). For Colantoni's biography picture, they even used a photo of him as Mathesar.

You know you're a serious Gary Oldman fan if you recognize him in THIS movie and yes, I am guilty of being THAT much of a fan!

reply

Haha! I have to admit that I'm guilty of that as well
I actually really liked this movie. Can't understand how someone can hate it.

Haha, one step further, I didn't bother to look up what the movie was about, I just bought it and watched it BECAUSE Gary's in it =P And he was amazing as usual.

It's called "acting". Some cats do it better than others.

Even though I knew it was Gary Oldman, I had a hard time believing it until the scene near the end where he's in the hospital after getting his ear blown off. The makeup job here was almost as extreme as Gary's character in "Hannibal."
