What do you think of Tao?

Tao was a great actor on the show and played great scenes, but seemed rather reserved to be Dar's sideline. What was up with his nerdy elastic straps that held up his shoes? Surprised Dar didn't riducule him for wearing those, but Tao did portray the nerdy but smart role. Tao was calm in most situations like he had the smarts to think out the solutions to avoid violence. Dar relied on him for advice while Tao relied on Dar for his strength to fight in battles.

I enjoy the philosophical interpretations Tao brings to program. A couple of weeks ago on an episode shown on the Showcase network; he discussed an allegory concerning a "charioteer" as a representation of human consciousness. Interestingly, similar allegories can be found in Plato's writings as well as the Bhagavad-Gita. Tao's role as the sage is well juxtaposed with that of the elevated "Beast - Master," a man who has successfully mastered not only his own beastly passions, but also that of animals and less evolved human specimens.

Tao's cool. I actually didn't like him back when the show aired. But now I see he's essential glue. The only thing I didn't like about Tao was I thought he should have become a bad ass fighter monk by the show's end. Not be a bad ass fighter like Bruce Lee or anything. But, you know, stop being such a liability to drag around.
