Cynthia and Kiera Knightly

As I watched this today I couldn't help but see a similarity between the girl who played Cynthia and Kiera Knightly. Not necessarily their looks, but the way they say their lines and their acting just reminds me of each other. Anyone else see this?

I noticed it too, and was wondering if I was the only one! Apparently not..

Er, well, I thought Justine Waddell was significantly more subtle, intelligent, and warm than Knightley has ever been.

It wasn't Justine Waddell, it was Keeley Hawes. And yes, I too noticed the resemblance.

reply

So did I. To me, Keeley Hawes looked a lot like Keira Knightley, with a little Helena Bonham-Carter thrown in.

Not in a million years was "Cynthia" anything like the K Knightly. It was KK who spoiled "Pirates" for me, with her overacting, scene stealing and ugly mouth.

reply

I don't see much resemblance, since Keeley Hawes can actually act, while Keira Knightley just pretends to act. I can't stand Keira Knightley; she pouts her way through every part in that sick-making little girl voice. I refuse to watch anything in which she appears.

I too don't have a high opinion of Keira Knightly as an actor. Keeley Hawes is the much more natural and accomplished actor. Keira Knightly is a thing of loveliness if she doesn't have to move her face, but the moment she has to emote, she's like a small child told to smile for the camera.

I loved her in the small role in Bend it Like Beckham -- thought she was natural as supporting cast. But in the heavy-duty romantic roles she keeps getting, she just spoils it all. I was particularly astounded by her casting as Elizabeth Bennett in Pride & Prejudice. Thank god the earlier version with Firth/Ehle eclipses it in most memories.
