I just don't get it....

How is it possible to give this movie 10/10? It suprises me that every single movie on IMDB has got several top scores, no matter how bad they are. Even though if you like this movie, you shouldn't give it top score. In my opinion only a few extraordinary movies should get that kind of ratings.

This movie was extra-ordinary. It was so freaking funny. How can you not give it a 10? I had to give it a 10 instantly because those zombie looking guys were hilarious. This movie isn't a horror no matter how hard it tried. All I could do was laugh.

Wasn't really good enough for a 10, more like a 4...
Those zombies looked stupid, why did the camera slowed down on them only, it just looked so cheesy. I didn't' really like this film much, it was exciting at the start to see what happens but i wouldn't see this again.

I'm one of those 10/10'ers... A range of factors went into my decision, including liking Lou and Lori (a lot), the b-movie factor, the location (I live in AZ and enjoy native american lore), uniqueness of the 'monster', etc. Nothing bumps up the rating factor more than the 'do i want to re-watch it' factor. And I did. And I could again.

That IS how you should grade a movie! It's an individual thing. I've watched "Route 666" at least 10 times and would watch it again, as I am a big fan of a number of the actors, I like the ghost effects, I LOVE the zingy dialogue, and I like the atmosphere. Grading a movie should be how much you enjoyed it, not breaking it down into quality of effects, acting, etc. I would watch "Route 666" rather than many of the blockbusters of recent years. My score is given for entertainment value, whether I would suggest this to other viewers (generally fellow film buffs), and how the whole thing came together.

Hooray for jrregan!

To the OP, I understand your frustration and it's very confusing when you go by the rating to decide whether or not you want to see it. But eventually more people will see it and will rate the movie more fairly and the numbers will go down. By the time I saw it the rating was down to a 4.2. After I put my rating in, it will drop lower because this was a lousy movie. But the posters who defend their "10" ratings do have a good point in that everyone rates films based on different priorities. I have given lousy movies high ratings too, based on the "enjoyment" priority--and sometimes it's enjoyable to laugh at a bad film. So hang in there--eventually the rating will catch up to a reasonable level.
